High Class Fresh Fishmonger

Haymans Fisheries offers high quality, fresh fish and seafood through our fishmonger shops and direct to the catering industry. Our retail shop in Oxford's historic Covered Market is a high class fresh fishmonger. Fish is sourced daily from inshore boats around the coast to ensure freshness and continuity of supply. Haymans are always looking to expand their range and buy from Brixham in Devon and the Cornish ports. Last year saw the arrival of a shark weighing just under 600lbs. Our History

The business was opened by Charles Hayman in 1928 who continued to work in the business until his retirement in the late 1960s. It was then purchased by a small consortium of tradesmen but not fishmongers who owned it until 1983 when the current owner of the business took over the reigns. There was slow but steady progress through the 1980s and 1990s but it was in 1995 when fishmonger Ray Lindsey who is now General Manager joined the business. The board decided to really start to develop the business in a way that got people talking about fish once again. This was timed with a couple of new appointments in the business who are really passionate about the fish industry.

The business is growing daily with a strong team and has plans to open a Billingsgate style fish cash and carry in purpose built premises on the outskirts of Oxford in the coming year.
